The SPC® works as a positioning system, like an auto pilot but for anchor. It avoids the annoyance of the swell by positionning the boat in order that it faces the waves, and it stabilizes the boat providing of +83.3% of gained stability at anchorage. Holding the ship course direction at anchorage, the SPC® provides unrivalled comfort.
Another of the SPC® specificities allows to choose a sight or the stern exposure, and to ease maneuvers as it includes a stern thruster function.
The SPC® is energy-saving, automatic and silent. It settles at the stern of almost any motor-yacht, on the rear transom, sparing any hindering while navigating.
Interfaced together with an electronic compass, the SPC® has been designed to be easy to use. The gear responds thanks to an included and ergonomic remote control on which one can set the boat’s position by pushing a button. Then, whenever the ship gets 3 to 4 degrees apart from its initial preset course, the electronic compass automatically starts the pods either port or starboard, to reposition the ship. It also calculates the speed for the pods that best matches the vessel drifting. When the yacht has recovered its original preset direction at mooring, the system stops to restart according to the boat moves around the anchor.
When anchored, by none or decreasing wind, boats are under the influence of both mechanical and natural swell, which can make the stay aboard quite uncomfortable for passengers and crew: Nothing stands on, some passengers get sick, and it becomes hard to work, to sleep or to rest. A boat fairing behaves much better facing the waves than across them. The SPC® maintains the axis of the ship in front of the swell, providing thus the best comfort in such conditions.
The SPC® allows to choose as well the boat orientation for any other reason, like for the sun, for a beautiful landscape, to look at some event, or to keep one's privacy by avoiding to stay right opposite the other boats.
In case of heavy winds, anchored vessels suffer cross tractions, from +90° to -90°, that is to say an amplitude of 180°. The behavior of the boat in such circumstances may provoke anchor wrenching off. By keeping the boat in right preset axis, the vessel better stands the conditions, guaranteeing thus a higher level of security.
Irrespectively of the orientation one chooses to anchor the ship (ex: for a landscape, for shade or sun), currents and wind veer the boat off its course. This position shift can be tiring and dangerous whilst swimming. The SPC® adds comfort and security in this case as well, as it keeps the boat in the orientation it was set to, while facing the swell.
Also, thanks to the remote control functions, the SPC® can be used as an assistant to maneuvers at any time, exactly like a stern propeller does. Whether one is in a congested sea area or heading back to the harbour, the SPC® can be used in full power as a helping tool for trajectories and maneuvers.
Likewise, in case of suffering damage on engines, tiller, rudder head, propellers or reverser, the SPC® allows to undertake one’s maneuvers with serenity.
-When watching TV aboard with the boat stabilized with the SPC®, the active satellite receptions are, as a matter of fact necessarily improved. And in case of the sun reflecting in the TV, you can just change the orientation of the boat to enjoy your favorite tv program or to keep on working on your computer without annoyance.
The electric pods are very silent and progressive thanks to several speeds. They have been used for over 2 decades as a hybrid propelling gear, notably in the USA where they are used for approaching fishing areas.
The SPC® system draws its energy from the existing number of batteries, or from additionnal batteries according to requirements.
Thanks to its location on the boat, it has no impact onto the navigation.
The underneath graphics show the rocking of a Picchiotti 105 motor-yacht with the SPC® off and then on. The SPC® improves the boat stability by +83,3%.
Functions:
Stabilization at anchoring by the positioning, and maneuvering help.
Low energy consumption:
On an equal energy consumption, The SPC® output is clearly greater than a classical stern thruster.
Space requirement:
The SPC® settles on the rear transom of the boat, which spares any hindering during the voyage.
Boat requirement
It can be mounted on almost any kind of motored vessel, unlike classical stern thrusters
that are much more bulky (external tunnel + internal engine require a much longer period to be installed).
Limited maintenance:
Substitution of anodes and propellers cleansing. Pods can be submarine / anti-fouling painted.
Warranty: 2 years.
